Morgan Wallen has widened his lead in the record books. Billboard reports that his album I’m the Problem holds the No. 1 spot on the Top Country Albums chart dated Feb. 21 for a 38th nonconsecutive week. That run brings Wallen’s career total to 224 weeks at No. 1, the most in the chart’s 62-year history. He first reached the top on Aug. 15, 2020, and has remained a steady presence ever since.
The Top Country Albums chart began in 1964 under the name Hot Country Albums. Johnny Cash earned the first No. 1 with Ring of Fire: The Best of Johnny Cash. Over time, the chart evolved, reflecting changes in formats and listening habits.
So far, 21 artists have logged at least 50 weeks at No. 1. Male solo performers make up the majority, though three women and two groups have also crossed that mark. Kenny Chesney, with 50 weeks at the top, remains among that group, bolstered by both studio and live releases.
